The UNESCO Chair on “Geoparks, Sustainable Regional Development and Healthy Lifestyles” has proposed from the beginning to develop a set of transferring knowledge initiatives and promoting cooperation, in order to integrate the multiple approaches related to the territorial development engaging local communities and visitors in better socio-economic and healthier lifestyles. With this efforts it is expected to stimulate learning and promotion of core competencies such as critical and systematic thinking, collaborative decision-making, and taking responsibility for present and future generations.
In this framework will be organized the International Summer University on Geoparks, Sustainable Regional Development and Healthy Lifestyles as a new and multidisciplinary approach towards the capacity building on this subjects. As educational offer hosted in the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Vila Real, Portugal), this advanced formation includes an intensive series of seminars and workshops during two weeks.
